Global Affairs Major at Sacred Heart College

The field of global affairs examines the interdependent world that exists across borders, cultures and economies. Its complex and evolving challenges include economic development, environmental sustainability, political instability, terrorism, refugee crises and conflict, inequality and climate change. The major provides students with multidisciplinary training to understand and address these issues.

In addition to the required core courses, Global Affairs majors select a regional or thematic concentration and write a senior capstone project. These projects give majors the opportunity to apply their academic training in a practical, real-world setting. Students are also encouraged to take study abroad programs and internships as part of their curriculum.

Sacred Heart’s unique approach to global affairs allows students to gain a deeper understanding of how different influences impact societies and communities around the world. Graduates are prepared to tackle the complex problems that define our interconnected, ever-changing world as they navigate complexity and lead with purpose.
